Parental Rights during Divorce in Tennessee

Guide to Parental Rights during divorce is in the video below.

Do you know your parental rights during divorce and after divorce? Tennessee Code Annotated 36-6-101 lays out all your rights as a parent. This is often call a Parent’s Bill of Rights. There are NINE rights and they are pretty simple to follow. They are also the rights the other parent has (don’t forget that). These nine rights are actually printed in your Tennessee Permanent Parenting Plan and can also be found HERE. A FREE copy of the Tennessee Parenting Plan form can be downloaded HERE. Make sure you have the latest copy of the Parenting Plan form before submitting it to the court.

Parenting Classes in Tennessee are mandatory to get divorced! Knowing your parental rights during divorce is essential to maintain civility during the divorce process.

If you have children, you are required under Tennessee law to attend the mandatory Parent Education Seminar. This class is required for divorcing parents and normally has to be taken as a live class. We offer a class in Memphis at least 6 times per month. Another option is the Jackson are class. We will review all nine of your parental rights during class. Ask plenty of questions – that’s what the class is for!

We review these rights in detail during our weekly class! If you need a refresher, enjoy the clip below. We have many other videos on divorce and Tennessee law. You can check them out on our YouTube channel.
